The 2008–09 Atlanta Hawks season was the 63rd season of the franchise, 60th in the National Basketball Association
(NBA). It ended on Monday, May 11, 2009 with a loss at home to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second-round of the playoffs.
Playoffs The Atlanta Hawks faced the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2009 playoffs. After beating the Heat, they were swept in four games by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Playoffs The Atlanta Hawks faced the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2009 playoffs. After beating the Heat, they were swept in four games by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Free Agents- On August 11, it was announced that Hawks forward Josh Smith will remain with the Hawks after the Hawks matched an offer sheet from the Memphis Grizzlies. The terms have not been disclosed but it's believed that Smith gets a five-year deal worth about $58 million.
