In June 2008, the Qatar Olympic Committee officially withdrew from hosting the 4th Asian Indoor Games in Doha scheduled for 2011. A letter from Qatar Olympic Committee addressed to Olympic Council of Asia states that “We regret to inform you that QOC is not in a position to continue with its plan to host the 4th Asian Indoor Games in 2011 due to unforeseen circumstances and thereby formally withdrawing its interest in organizing these Games”The OCA said that 2009 Asian Indoor Games
