The 2011 Waratah Cup
is the 20th season of the competition, Football NSW's equivalent to the FA Cup
in England. The preliminary round for the competition was announced on Wednesday 23, March 2011 at Football NSW's headquarters in Riverstone, New South Wales
. 12 teams will be given a bye through to the First Round. In a positive sign for the competition, 33 different associations have registered teams into the tournament - a total of 33 for the season.

registered, and there is 1 club registered from Wagga Wagga
. 3 Illawarra Region clubs have entered the fray also. Round 1 will see the remaining State League Two clubs enter the fray, Round 2 will see Super League and State League One clubs enter while Round 3 will see all NSW Premier League clubs join.
The competition was won by NSW Premier League club Manly United, who defeated Mounties Wanderers 4-0 in the Grand Final. It is Manly United's first trophy in the competition since it's foundation.

There were 2 major upsets in the Quarter Finals. And it came so nearly to being 3. Manly United had to use Extra Time, to come from behind against a determined and resilient Hills Brumbies F.C.
who scored late in the game, only for Manly to come from behind and defeat them 2-1. APIA Leichhardt Tigers who won a hard-fought narrow victory in Extra Time in the third round against Macarthur Rams
, didn't have the spirit in them this time, and went down 2-0, to a 10-men Blacktown Spartans outfit. At Belmore Oval, NSW Premier League leaders Sydney Olympic went down to Mounties Wanderers in a game that shouldn't have gone to extra time. Mounties were leading comfortably 2-0, before an Olympic fightback brought them all square, however it wouldn't be enough as Mounties got a goal in Extra Time, and held on for a narrow 3-2 victory. In the battle of the 2 remaining Premier League teams, South Coast got the upper hand of last-on-the-ladder Parramatta Eagles
, despite the Eagles grabbing a goal in the opening 3 minutes, South Coast ran out comfortable 3-1 winners, at John Crehan Park
