The 2018 Summer Youth Olympics (officially known as III Summer Youth Olympic Games) will be the third Summer Youth Olympic Games, a major international multi-sport event
and cultural festival to be celebrated in the tradition of the Olympic Games
, in 2018 during the XXXI Olympiad
. It will be the fifth Youth Olympic Games overall, with the Winter Youth Olympics included. The host city will be elected in June 2013.

Monterrey launched a bid to host the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. They bid for the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics
, but the Comité Olímpico Mexicano selected Guadalajara as Mexico's bidding city. Guadalajara withdrew their bid before the IOC vote due to poor evaluation report.
Buenos Aires
On August 30, 2011 Buenos Aires and the Argentine Olympic Committee announced that they will bid for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games.

but lost to Melbourne

The mayor of the city presented the bid on September 15th in Lausanne

was interested in staging the event. In November 2011, the IOC held an information seminar for cities interested in bidding for future Olympic Games. A delegation from North Carolina attended the seminar. The USOC however, will not launch any Olympic bid until a new revenue sharing deal with the IOC is reached.
