History

The 41st Infantry Division was raised in January 1945 under the command of Major Werner Honeck when Germany's desperation for defence became grave as the Red Army raced to Berlin from the east and the Americans and Commonwealth forces slowly moved in from the west. The 41st division held the diminishing number of able men that the reich could muster.

The division was sent to Yugoslavia to take part in anti-partisan operations; the communist movement inspired by Josip Broz Tito
