As of 19 May 2008 a free version of the Atmail webmail client was made available. Named AtMail Open, it is a lightweight, webmail-only version of the commercial application and is distributed under the Apache 2.0 license.
As of July 17, 2009 Atmail released the new 6.X version which is a complete rewrite of the software based on the Zend and jQuery platform.
As of Sept 8, 2010 The flagship Atmail 6.20 version was released with support for Exchange ActiveSync
