The route then either disappears or runs with the A16 along the bypass southwards to Kenwick Top and the junction with the B1502. At that point, the A16 continues south towards Boston

road) the route heads southeasterly, passing through Legbourne

The Newnes 1927 atlas shows the A157 as starting in Lincoln, and taking the course of what is now the A158 to Wragby, before terminating at Louth. The present course from Louth to Maltby is listed as being the B1196.Until the opening of the Louth bypass in 1991, the A157 went through the centre of Louth, along the current route of the B1200 (Westgate, Edward Street, South Street, Newmarket and Legbourne Road.)
