The race was run at seven furlongs from inception until 1973 when it was modified to six furlongs. In 1983 it reverted to its original distance and has remained there since.
There was no race run in 1942-1943, and from 1947 through 1958.
In 2009, Evita Argentina became the first 3-year-old to win the A Gleam Handicap since -L Ranch Co.'s
Honeymoon did it in 1946.
