. The album received mixed reviews from fans and critics, being recognized as a step up from their debut release, but also said to be lacking in originality and body. In 2010 the band announced that they would take some time off touring to start writing their next album. A series of studio updates were posted on Youtube to keep fans in the loop. The album was revealed to be a concept album

. It was released on July 16, 2010 on Facedown Records, and received positive reviews from fans and critics alike. Vocalist Andy Atkins was praised for his improved vocals, and the originality of the songs was commended as well. The album was produced by Joey Sturgis at Foundation Studios in Connersvile, Indiana, and was mixed by Brian Hood, formerly of MyChildren MyBride. Late that year, Plea announced that rhythm guitarist Tyler Wilson had decided to leave the band. The band decided not to replace him, and have remained a four-piece. In February-March 2011, the band toured with MyChildren MyBride and The Chariot in support of Haste the Day for their farewell tour. In mid 2011, Plea announced they had re-signed with Facedown Records, and were working on new material for their upcoming album. Later it was announced that they were heading into the studio in August with producer Joel Schroeder to record their fourth full-length. The band released a series of studio updates on Youtube, one of which confirmed that The Life & Death of A Plea for Purging would be the title. The album was released on November 8, 2011 and was met with generally positive reviews from fans and critics alike. The band is currently on tour in support of the new album with Take It Back!, No Bragging Rights and Gideon.

Biography
After forming in 2005, A Plea for Purging quickly gained a reputation for hard work, with a heavy touring schedule that included over 200 live shows in their first year together. They released the "A Plea for Purging EP" in 2006, then the "Quick Is the Word, Steady Is the Action EP" the following year. They toured heavily behind these releases. In late 2007, A Plea for Purging signed to Facedown Records and released their debut LP A Critique of Mind and ThoughtA Critique of Mind and Thought
