The newspaper has gained widespread popularity due to the general belief that it has an impartial approach towards the happenings in the province and in the country. At the moment, it is considered to be the most widely circulated newspaper of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
AAJ is published and printed under its parent company A.A.A Publications (Pvt)Ltd. The three A's in the company name have deeply influenced the word aaj, which means 'Today' in Urdu
and for its English
and corporate presence the company has always used AAAJ which should have been otherwise AAJ.
A.W.Yousfi (Abdul Wahid Yousafi) a prominent journalist from the province is the founder/owner and chief editor of the newspaper. A.W.Yousafi was also awarded the Pride of Performance
in 2008 for his lifetime contribution to his profession.
This news paper is popular among the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa because of its impartial approach towards the news unlike its rival the Daily Mashriq
