Imprisonment
Fatouh was arrested in 1981, during the famous September arrests that specifically targeted members of Islamic groups in large numbers. He was then tried in a military court for the members of the Muslim Brotherhood. He was imprisoned from 1996-2001, for a span of five years. He had been working as the aide to the secretary general of the Arab Medical Union before his imprisonment, and after his release from prison, he was voted to be the secretary general of the same organization.Presidential campaign
In 2011, after the January Revolution, Dr. Fatouh announced that he would be running for the Presidency of Egypt.
