The trackbed is clear up to south of the former station site. however the A467 road has been built on the formation from there northward.

. In October 2010 Wales Online reported that negotiations were taking place to buy the former Co-op store land off current owners Tesco, by SEWTA and this is where the new station would be built. There is also to be parking for 80 cars, creating a park and ride system. This will enable a service to take place from Abertillery to Cardiff once the Crosskeys - Aberbeeg junction is double tracked. According to Wales Online, 'A consultation period will run until November 12 and the proposal then reviewed.
