The song has been widely thought by fans to been recorded in 1999, but the actual date is unknown. Contary to popular belief, "Action Radius" is not featured on the standard edition of Big Sounds of the Drags
. The record label who distributed the initial 1999 issue of the album including the track, didn't like the song, leading to Junkie XL to remove it from its reissues. However, they allowed him to release as a single in 2000.
In 2003, it was featured in the soundtrack to the Electronic Arts
-published racing video game Need for Speed: Underground
. EA also included it in a unreleased beta of Need For Speed: Carbon
(2006), but eventually pulled it off the final version.
