Adam Burke is a qualified PE teacher and ocean rower
originally from Skerries, Dublin
, Ireland. He currently holds two Guinness world records
; firstly as a crew member on the Sara G
, the fastest ocean rowing boat to have crossed the Atlantic Ocean east to west , and secondly, as a member of the same crew that rowed the most consecutive days achieving a distance of over 100 miles per day . The record now stands at 12 days .
In both 2005 and 2006 Adam spent a number of months volunteering in South Africa. He graduated from his undergraduate degree in Community Sports Leadership at Dundalk Institute of Technology in 2006. Since then he had completed his Masters degree at the University of Chester (2008) and his HDip in physical education at the University of Limerick
(2009).
In the summer of 2012, Adam will be a crew member on the Sara G when he will attempt to break the record for the fastest crossing of the Indian Ocean .
