, was organized in 1886 under the direction of George Judson Tripp and marked its first official graduation exercises in 1887. Three participated in commencement that year, followed by one in 1888. Their graduation exercises have taken place on campus for 83 of the last 84 years, with the 2008 and 2009 graduations at Adrian College's Dawson Auditorium being the only exception. Recently averaging 80 to 90 graduates each year, Addison Community Schools is home of the Addison Panthers, first using that mascot for the 1948–49 school year. Prior to that, the school used the nickname Addison Millers, in honor of the village's staple factory, the flouring mill. The campus comprises four main buildings, Wayne Gray Elementary School, Addison Upper Elementary, Addison Middle School, and Addison High School. As of the 2009–10 school year, the historic "Upper El.", previously the high school from 1925 to 1960, was closed to save the district money. The district junior/senior high school principal and superintendent is Steven Guerra. The dean of students position is currently held by Chad VanSickle. Brent McCall the Addison Community Schools athletic director. The elementary principal position is held by John Williams IV.

The school has adopted many academic and extracurricular programs through either opening
