. The land was purchased for the school by Adolfo Camarillo for the construction of a high school. Its current principal is Glenn Lipman.
In 2009, Camarillo High's API score increased from 797 to 832. In 2010, the score increased to 847 making Camarillo High one of the highest scoring in Ventura County.

The Scorpions have two CIF-SS champion football teams in their history. In 1984, the Camarillo Scorpions football team won the CIF Southern Section championship in the Los Angeles Coliseum over Ventura High School. In 1996, ACHS beat Notre Dame High School of Sherman Oaks, and current Oakland Raider Justin Fargas 20-16.
In 2007, Camarillo's Softball team was ranked second in California and the country. The team has also made it to the semi-final round of CIF Southern Section Div. I from 2001 to 2006. Also in 2007, the Camarillo Baseball team was runner up in CIF Div. II.
Camarillo's nearest rival school is Rio Mesa High School

Over the years, the attendance dividing line has shifted from Rosewood Avenue, to Carmen Drive in 1983, and eventually to the current north/south line along Arneill Road. . Students from the Las Colinas Middle School, the now-closed Los Altos Middle School, and additional students from Monte Vista Middle School compose the majority of students that enter Adolfo Camarillo High School.
There is also an art/culture magazine called the Veritas. In December 2007 ACHS launched an online version of the Stinger called "insideACHS.com" This newly created site is called "Scorpion Media".
