. The flight over the Andes was a publicity stunt to promote the new G3 model of the French aircraft manufacturer. Bolland started on 1 April 1921 in Mendoza, Argentina
and kept a flight level of 14,750 feet (4500 m), which meant she had to fly around some of the mountains. After a 10 hours flight, she landed in Santiago de Chile
. Many people had gathered to celebrate the feat — notably missing was the French consul who believed it was an April Fool's Day joke.
