The Adyar Nayak family, which is a spin off of the Ullal Nayak family, a populous Gowda Sasraswat Brahmin (GSB) Family, originated from this place in the late 19th century.
The Adyar Nayak family was founded by Mr. Adyar Nagappa Nayak in the year 1881 AD, as a breakaway sect, from the Ullal Nayak family. The Adyar Nayak family has since then moved on to Mangalore,Karnataka,India.
At present, the complete family has just thirty, consisting of 22 males and 8 females, surviving members.
The Ganesh Chaturthi (Chowti) festival is held at the ancestral house in Mangalore every year. The eldest member of the Adyar Nayak family, Mr. Adyar Pundalika Nayak, who was residing at Alke in Mangalore

He is survived by his wife and only son. The eldest member of the family now is Adyar Narayana Nayak, fondly called as ANNU amongst the family, residing at Basaweshwaranagar, Bangalore
