. Zhuge released him. When Ahuinan returned to his camp, he was assigned to defend Shakou. When he engaged Shu Han forces for a second time, the enemy ridiculed him, saying that he had no sense of shame. Ahuinan felt humiliated and ordered a retreat. He was afraid of being punished for failing in his duties, so he plotted against Meng Huo together with Dongtuna. Ahuinan and Dongtuna took Meng by surprise and captured him and presented him to Zhuge Liang, but Zhuge released Meng when the latter complained that he was betrayed by his own men. Meng returned to his camp and lured Ahuinan and Dongtuna into a trap and had them executed and dumped their bodies into a brook.
