The University College offers a variety of professional study programmes (Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes and extension and continuing courses) at the four faculties:
Study programmes
The Bachelor's degree programmes at Akershus University College are mainly professionally oriented and characterised by integration of theory and practice. The candidates are attractive to a wide range of professions needed throughout the society, such as product design, nursing, social education, vocational teaching, facility and service management, institutional catering management, and information and communication technology.
One of our principal strategic aims is to be a modern learning centre providing expert tuition founded on research work produced by the highly experienced and qualified academic staff.
Faculty of Product Design
Product Design studies produce the combination of artistic insight, technical skills and craftsmanship, and the need for good design in our culture. The studies are mainly related to one of three materials wood, metal or ceramics. The studies include project work combined with practical work in the studio.
As a product design student you will meet spacious, functional and modern workshops, studios, classrooms and lecture facilities.
Faculty of Health, Nutrition and Management
The faculty has a long history of providing studies for health care professionals.
At campus, the students will meet modern study facilities such as authentic furnished hospital rooms for training, equipped with medical instruments. The faculty cooperates with the hospitals and the health sector in this region.
Every June, after 3 years of study, about 100 candidates pass their final exam in nursing. After successfully completing their studies, the candidates are awarded a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, and are also eligible for authorization as general nurses.
Faculty of Behavioural Science
The faculty offers their bachelor students training for practitioners as Social Educators by following the Bachelor's programme in Social Education. The study qualifies for providing holistic care and carrying out habilitation and rehabilitation work with people who are in need of such services. The faculty also offers continuing courses within the habilitation- and rehabilitation area. As a result of research and innovation work, a very exciting Master's programme has been developed by the academic staff at the faculty.
Faculty of Technical and Vocational Teacher Education
The majority of our students are studying at the Faculty of Technical and Vocational Teacher Education. Most of them are mature students with backgrounds in a wide variety of vocational fields.
The faculty offers several Bachelor's programmes and Master's programmes and also a number of continuing courses, particularly for teachers.
The faculty offers some of the programmes as part-time studies.
