The Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) is an Alameda, California
, USA organization working to provide supplemental funding to the students and teachers of Alameda's public schools.
The Alameda Education Foundation is made up of parents, educators, residents, businesses, and community leaders working together to support educational excellence within the Alameda Unified School District
(AUSD).
Established in 1982 by community leaders, the organization was created to provide funds and other resources to supplement the educational opportunities available in the city of Alameda.
From 1984 to 1997 the organization was known as the Foundation for Educational Excellence (FEE).
In 1998 the organization became known as the Alameda Education Foundation (AEF).
In 2000 the Foundation went into partnership with Bank of Alameda in a program known as Adopt-A-Classroom. The bank and the foundation solicit $500 from businesses, individuals, churches and other organizations to donate to classrooms. Each classroom teacher can use the $500 grant for any purpose that is needed.
