was on a rock show called "Bridges", and he went on to host the late Saturday "Hot 'n' Heavy Express" show. Alan had very long hair and moustache - which, being ginger, made him quite a distinctive character when he was seen in public.

After the departure of James Whale, Alan Beswick, Tony Crosby and Dave Porter presented the NightOwls show for a short period, before Alan Robson began presenting the show in 1983.

Current shows

His current Rock Show is named the Hot and Heavy. The show consists of many rock songs from the past and present accompanied with jokes, prizes and competitions. The Hot and Heavy has now been replaced with a Saturday Night Show. In this show at midnight Alan tells a ghost story from the local area. This is followed by 'Bode's Saturday Night Surgery' where the callers can ring the show and ask questions to an American medic called Bode. He also has a regular feature on a Tuesday night where listeners can phone in and discuss what scares them. It is on this particular show where Alan famously declared he is in fact scared of corned beef touching his skin. This is now a long running gag throughout the show.

The NightOwls show is a lighthearted late night phone in radio show. It is one of Britain’s most listened to shows on commercial radio. Alan’s NightOwl’s show won World's Best Talk Show in the New York Radio Awards.
