Alas de Oro

The Alas de Oros is an annual professional wrestling
tournament held by the Mexican
professional wrestling promotion
Asistencia Asesoría y Administración
(AAA). The tournament features young high-fliers, hence the "Wings of Gold" moniker, who are either low-card or mid-card workers at the time of the tournament. The "Alas de Oro" title is not defended outside of the tournament like AAA's Reina de Reinas
title is. The tournament was created in 2007 and saw Extreme Tiger
win the first Alas de Oro, in 2008 Aero Star
won the tournament. The 2009 version of the tournament is currently underway.

Alas de Oro 2007
The first Alas de Oro tournament featured an eight-man elimination match where two wrestlers were in the ring at the same time while the remaining competitors stayed on the floor. If a wrestler was eliminated or left the ring a wrestler from the outside could enter the ring to continue the match. Alas de Oro 2009
The 2009 Alas the Oro, which is currently under way, the tournament format was changed from a single elimination match to a league style tournament with 10 participants wrestling in singles matches. Wrestlers earns two points for winning a match, one point for a tie and two points for executing the "Move of the match" (called vuelo espectacular, or "Spectacular flight" in Spanish). The matches will all be broadcast during the football show Sólo de Fútbol ("Only Football") on Thursday nights. All matches have a five minute time limit and is taped in a studio, not an arena.
