located in the Southern part of the county along Texas State Highway 6 and Fm-914. The town was originally called: "Harper's Mill" when the Post Office was approved for operation around the 1870s. The name was changed in the 1880s when the Texas Central Railroad planned and started building from east to west through the townsite

. During the 1890s Alexander held a steady population of around 381 however by 1940 Alexander had a population of 200. In 1970 the Alexander Post Office had closed. The population was a steady 40 from the 1970s through the 2000s. A cemetery, two churches, numerous homes, and other structures remained in Alexander in 2010.
