Following his Master's degree, Ali was elected to the position of Vice President (Internal Affairs) for the Guild of Students
, responsible for internal discipline as well as communications such as the student newspaper. His vice-presidency was chiefly marked by a controversy surrounding the censure of a student group promoting Palestinian rights at a meeting.
From this work, Ali concentrated on club DJ work, working at many major Birmingham clubs as both resident and guest.
In 2008, he decided to once again move back to radio work, by entering the Radiostar 2008 competition on Oxford's FM 107.9. Ali co-presented a live breakfast show in July 2008, as did 4 other short listed candidates, and was announced as the winner the following Monday morning, live on the breakfast show.
As a result, he now hosts the station's chart show, broadcast on a Saturday from 10am - 1pm.

DJ Work
Ali started DJing whilst at school, and when at university made significant inroads in to both club and radio work.
