Driving Offences

In 2010, Aliff was involved in a traffic accident which resulted in injuries to the driver and passenger of another vehicle. He was arrested, tested to have exceeded the alcohol limit and charged in court for multiple traffic offences, including drink driving and driving under disqualification. Having a history of driving offences, Aliff was sentenced to serve a three-week prison sentence with a fine of S$10,500 - or in default an additional 53 days in prison. Earlier, he had been disqualified from driving and accumulated over $30,000 of fines - which was reportedly settled by his club manager.

Public Reaction

Aliff's attempt to raise money from his fans to pay his fine stirred a strong public reaction. Internet forums were abuzz with calls for him to quit, accusing him of being unrepentant for his crimes and expecting his fans to pay for his crime.
