Alitalia Airport S.p.A. in administration (in the absence of the September 16, 2008) was a subsidiary of Alitalia Servizi, which had the task of coordinating the functions of handling or passenger service and aircraft, Alitalia, carrier partners and third party customers. At Fontanarossa airport of Catania, in addition to managing Alitalia's ground service, the company also provided support for Malev, Volareweb, Air Slovakia, TNT, Air Alps, Luxair, and ran the Lost and Found for British Airways, Meridiana, TUIfly, Myair and other charter airlines and low cost, for approx. 80% of the luggage in transit in Catania.
Alitalia Airport had obtained the UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 for the International Airport of Fiumicino, by Det Norske Veritas, September 6, 2001 September 18, 2008 and had expanded its international certification UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 services handling provided at the airport at London Heathrow. The company was thus the first operator in Italy certified for the entire complex of airport procedures. The Certification was all the processes related to operations carried out by Scalo Fiumicino hub (Passenger Assistance, Support Aircraft and Operational Coordination of Call), but also involved other business functions such as, for example, training resources, marketing, procurement by strategic suppliers and sales.
Alitalia Airport was part of the association Assohandlers.
The last day of operation the company was January 12, 2009. From January 13th, activities, assets and staff layoffs residual place, formed part Alitalia - Italian airline.
