Allaire duPont Distaff Stakes

The Allaire DuPont Distaff is an American Thoroughbred horse race
run annually at Pimlico Race Course
in Baltimore, Maryland. A Grade II
event run in mid May, it is open to fillies
and mares
age three and older. It is contested on dirt at a distance of 11/16 miles (8.5 furlong

Formerly known as the "Pimlico Breeders' Cup Distaff Handicap"/"Pimlico Distaff", it was renamed the "Allaire duPont Breeders' Cup Distaff Stakes" in 2006 in honor of the late Maryland horsewoman
and owner of the great Kelso
, Allaire duPont
. The race was first awarded graded status in 1994 and then the race was upgraded from a Grade III to a Grade II event in 2007.
From 1992 through 2001, the race was contested at 1⅛ miles (9 furlongs). The race was run in late June for its first three years. Then it was moved to the Preakness undercard beginning in 1995.
