Allerød Kommune is a municipality (Danish
, kommune) on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark
. The municipality covers an area of 67 km², and has a total population of 23,493 (2008). Its mayor is Erik Lund, a member of the Conservative People's Party
(Det Konservative Folkeparti) political party
.
, is also the site of the municipal council, and most people say 'Allerød'. Smaller towns inside the municipality are Blovstrød and the towns of Lynge
and Uggeløse, which have grown together.

to the south-west.
Allerød municipality was not merged with other municipalities by January 1, 2007 as the result of nationwide Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007).
The warm period after the last ice age (Wisconsin glaciation
