Alonso Cueto Caballero is a Peru
vian novelist and playwright. His novel El tigre blanco (The White Tiger), published in 1985, was awarded the Premio Wiracocha. He has published regularly and currently writes for the newspaper

at the Catholic University of Peru. His novel "Grandes Miradas" was adapted into a movie ("Mariposa Negra") by Francisco Lombardi in 2006. Cueto's novel The Blue Hour won the Herralde Prize in 2006.
In 2007, Cueto also collaborated with the highly acclaimed radio program "Mi Novela Favorita" (Mi Favorite Novel).
His 2007 novel El Susurro de la Mujer Ballena was a runner-up for the prestigious Premio Iberoamericano Planeta-Casa de América de Narrativa
for which he was awarded $50,000.
