Ramakrishna Nagar

Ramakrishna Nagar is located geographically in the Middle of Alwarthirunagar. It has got a large playground which is most utilized since 1980s. Water logging is a common problem during the rainy season. Many flood light Cricket matches have been conducted in this ground. In the year 2008 there has been some buildings constructed which has reduced the size of the playground. Most of the individual houses have been converted into Mini Apartments in this area.

Velan Nagar

Velan Nagar is about 1 km inside from the Alwarthirunagar Bus stop and about 800 meters from Lamech Bus stop. During the later part of 1980s there was water stagnation issues during the rainy season. During 1990's the area had developed into a very large residential area. The number of playground areas decreased. Earlier lots of people from Alwarthiruagar used to come to Velan Nagar for playing Games and Cycling was the primary traveling mode. This place also has got a Banyan Tree which is considered holy. The Ganesh Temple in this locality has been upgraded recently.

Mega Mart is the big superstore located beside La Chateline School where one can shop for branded dresses. There is also a mobile phone shop in it.

The Kamatchi Stores is the major store in Nehru street that provides major goods supplies. It has also opened a branch in Velan Nagar. There is also the Iyengar Bakery which provides bakery items. Hot Chips is also nearby, that provides good south Indian snacks. This area also has an Aavin
