The American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan
(AmCham-Jordan) is a voluntary not-for-profit
member based organization that
contributes to the economic development
through the promotion of U.S Jordan regional trade and investment, business development
, public policy
advocacy, human resources development
and business community outreach.
AmCham-Jordan plays a leading role in expanding economic growth
and opportunities, through the enhancement of trade and investment between Jordan and the U.S.
On February 4, 1999, the Jordanian Government officially approved the registration of the Jordanian American
Business Association (JABA) currently The American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham-Jordan) as a not for profit organization chartered with the mission of promoting trade and investment between Jordan and the United States of America.
The concept behind JABA came about a meeting called for by former U.S. Ambassador to Jordan, Mr.William Burns in October 1999. The meeting debated ways to promote U.S.-Jordanian business relations. The idea of forming an association and bylaws of the new organization.
The final request for registration was submitted bearing the signature of 28 Jordanian and U.S. businessmen and women who are recognized today as AmCham-Jordan Charter Members. In April 2000, AmCham-Jordan officially became a member of the United States Chamber of Commerce

In 2004, AmCham-Jordan proposed the establishment of a Regional Council of American Chambers of Commerce (AmCham) in the Middle East
and North Africa
(MENA) Region to coordinate collaboration among AmChams to promote greater business opportunities between the United States and the Africa and the Middle East regions.
The initial formation of the council was launched during AmCham-Jordan's American Jordanian Expo 2004. The American Chambers of Commerce in Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria signed a protocol launching the AmCham Middle East North Africa (MENA) Regional Council initiative in Beirut, Lebanon
in July 2005.
