The American Journal of Business is a bi-annual academic journal
published in the Center for Business and Economic Research
at Ball State University
. Founded in 1985, the first issue was published in March 1986 under the title Mid-American Journal of Business. In 2007, the name was change to American Journal of Business since many of its authors were outside Midwestern United States
. The Journal publishes distinguished theses, empirical research
, case studies, and theories on various subjects. Circulation of the Journal includes 2000 print copies, as well as downloadable online articles.
The Journal is currently sponsored by 10 AACSB accredited universities, including Ball State University

In recent years, the Journal has made efforts to expand its sponsorship. Bowling Green State University returned to the consortium in fall 2008 after a 17-year hiatus. The University of Akron was also added in fall of 2008, bringing the sponsorship consortium to 9 universities. In fall 2009, Cleveland State University was added and became the first university outside the Mid-American Conference to join.
