, Anamangad had a population of 14,236 with 6,906 males and 7,330 females.
Anamangad lies in between Amminikkadan Mala and Chelamala. It was once part of Nedunganad principality ruled by Chera Kings Samantha Rajas.Later on invaded by Valluvanadu Rajas and controlled by their Minister of prime Elambilakatt Achans, called Yajamans. . The land is good for paddy growth.Most of the Namboodiri families got paddy fields by way of gift from Chera rulers. The proposed Aligarh Muslim University Malappuram Campus is upcoming at Chelamala.In Anamangad there are few Hindu temples. The famous temples are Kunnumal Bhagawathy Temple, Mahadevamangalam Shiva Temple, Punnakot temple, Athikkot Temple, Pariyapuram Subrahamanya Kovil, Kainari Ayappa Temple at Valamkulam, Valamkulam Ayyappan Temple etc. The famous Muslim pilgrim centre Odamala Makkam is also situated in the Village. This Makkam is believed to be the Kabarsthan of a Muslim fakir Farid thangal, revered by both Hindus and Muslims. There are also ancient Manas of Namboodiri Brahmins like Edathara Moothedath Mana and Avanoor Mana. The mother's side of the present Senior Namboodiris of Avanoor Mana is from the family of Poonthanam, the author of well known kavyam Janapana is written in Malayalam virtham . The place is also famous for ancient Kovilakkams of Samanthas & Nair Tarwads. Kadambot Kovilakkam in Valamkulam is one among them. Tharavads like Ezhuthassan Veetil, Puthirikuthu, Cheriyedath, Pakideeri, Poomangalam, Neelancheri,Chakkanath, Kurupath,Karekat,Kizukaravil,Kandassarodi,Kizhekethil,Parambat, Valayangat Palakkal and prominantly Ponmanadiyil who were well educated even at the bigining of the 1900's, etc.Well Known Thiya families like Mangattil,Cherumgottil, Kakkatil,Kuriyadiyil are also there .
