The original subdivision was built in 1965 and was the first housing development of dense middle class housing in the lehigh valley. In 1972, Ancient Oaks West was started, made up of single family houses and town homes. In 1985, Ancient Oaks South started and lasted through 1989.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 27.2% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 28.1% from 45 to 64, and 10.9% who were 65 years of age or older.
