. He moved to Pennsylvania in 1808 and studied law but never practiced. He served as collector of revenue in 1814 and prothonotary

, from 1816 to 1819. He was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives
in 1821, 1822, and 1826. He served as postmaster
of Wilkes-Barre from 1826 to 1832.
Beaumont was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third
and Twenty-fourth
Congresses. He was not a candidate for renomination. He served as commissioner of public buildings in Washington, D.C.
, from November 5, 1846, to March 3, 1847. He was again a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1849. He died in Wilkes-Barre in 1853. Interment in Hollenback Cemetery.
