In late 2011 MacKay was said to be considering a return to competitive swimming and targeting the 2016 Olympics in Rio as a swansong to a fine career.

College years

While at Notre Dame, Andrew resided in Stanford Hall for 3 years before moving off-campus to The Wayne Manor (aka the House of Sand and Fog).

Hobbies

Since his retirement from top level swimming his sporting activities have been mainly restricted to online gaming. He enjoys the occasional game of Super Smash Brothers Melee, even though Kevin Sullivan is much better at it (and much better looking, as well). Although he has difficulty in understanding the rules, MacKay is said to be a competent Madden 99 player.

Despite his retirement he still sports impressive triceps. He has been known to work out as many as two times a month to stay in peak phyical condition.
