After graduating from Evergreen State College with a music degree, Huff began her musical career in the late 1990s with the novelty synth-pop group the Space Ballerinas. The group released two EPs on Yoyo Records entitled "Diamonds" and "If Goth Was Pink" and opened a show for Peaches
