Annamalai Ramanathan

Annamalai Ramanathan is an Indian mathematician working in algebraic geometry, who introduced the notion of Frobenius splitting of algebraic varieties in . This led to the solution of many problems about Schubert varieties, such as the Demazure character formula.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in 1991 for his work in algebraic geometry.
