Antarctica Marathon

The Antarctic Ice Marathon was established by Richard Donovan / Polar Running Adventures to enable marathon runners to complete a marathon on all seven continents. It also enables athletes to complete the marathon grand slam - a marathon on all seven continents and the North Pole. The Antarctic Ice Marathon is currently the only marathon within the Antarctic Circle
(2007).
The sixth running of the Antarctic Ice Marathon took place at 80° South
on December 15, 2010. The 100 kilometer race took place a day later on December 16, 2010. Participants are flown from Punta Arenas, Chile
to the race location in the interior of the Antarctic and experience anything from subzero temperatures to 24 hours of daylight while there. The next running of the Antarctic Ice Marathon is expected to take place on or around November 30, 2011.
