Anthony Cerami has led research programs into genetic, metabolic and infectious diseases, with the goal of translating scientific discovery into clinically important products. Among the successes of his approach are: glycated hemoglobin to monitor diabetic control, anti-tumour necrosis factor-alpha therapies to treat inflammatory diseases such as Crohn's disease and rheumatoid arthritis, and, recently, tissue protective cytokines to safely treat devastating diseases and injuries.
