Antonio Frixione was an Italian landscape and portrait painter
and printmaker
.
on January 8, 1843 and educated in Genoa at the Accademia ligustica di Belle Arti, which he attended from 1859 to 1866. He studied painting and engraving under Giuseppe Frascheri and Raffaele Granara.
He became friends with Ernesto Rayper (1840–1873), Antonio Varni (1841–1908) and Giulio Monteverde
(1837–1917) with whom he shared a profitable cultural and artistic exchange that enriched his inspiration and maturity.
In 1882 he was appointed professor at the Accademia Albertina di Torino.
In 1901 he was awarded as a Knight of the Order of the Crown of Italy
by King Vittorio Emanuele III.
Frixione was married with Fortunata Bafico and had two sons. He died in Genoa on April 14, 1914.
