"Anupama" is a Sanskrit word meaning "unparalleled", or "uncomparable" (beyond comparison with something else). It has a feminine gender and refers to the goddess or Shakti. It is also a given name.

"an-" is the negator prefix. "Upama" is an "Artha Alankar" (construct) that is used to describe Thing A (the comparable) as being similar to Thing B (the compared). This is probably equivalent to "simile" in English figure of speech. Another "Artha Alankar", called "Rupak" is like the English "Metaphor" in that Thing A is described as if it is modeling Thing B. A third "Artha Alankar", called "Utpreksha" describes that the comparable evokes the compared, rather than modeling it.
