, of which it is a municipal unit. It is located in the southwestern part of the island. Its population was 3,235 at the 2001 census. The seat of the municipality was in Vasiliki
(pop. 431). Its area is 124.709 km², comprising about 41 percent of Lefkada Island. Its largest towns are Ágios Pétros (pop. 578), Vasilikí, Sývros (418), and Marantochóri (327).
