Apteromantis aptera is a species

This is a species of praying mantis which is endemic to the Iberian peninsular. It was first noted by Fuente in 1894. There are few areas known where it now exists in Spain. It is rare and is catalogued on the red list of endangered species as near threatened.
This species may be brown, grey or green in colour. They can be distinguished from other mantids by the very angular eyes that taper to (upward and outwards facing) points. The nymphs hide low down in grasses and jump with agility, making them difficult to tell apart from small grasshoppers.
