. Season eight is notable for being the first season to premiere as an Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 season, after the title was officially changed from Aqua Teen Hunger Force in 2011. Season eight premiered with the two-part episode "Allen" on May 8, 2011 and May 15, 2011; and ended with "Last Dance for Napkin Lad" on July 24, 2011, with a total of ten episodes.
, who frequently made guest appearances on Aqua Teen Hunger Force, is now featured as a regular by narrating the episode titles. Dave Willis also confirmed on Twitter the comedian Neil Hamburger

Despite being the eighth season of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, the show itself has been renamed Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1. Along with the new name, the season will feature a new theme song by Josh Homme and Alain Johannes
and a new opening sequence. The new theme is the first not to be performed by rapper Schoolly D
.
it was said that Dr. Weird and Steve would be returning as series regulars. They appeared in one episode during the season. In a 2010 interview, Dave Willis also said that season eight would revisit the original concept of the Aqua Teens being detectives, which was added by request of Cartoon Network
, but was dropped after three episodes. All the episodes after Allen Part 2 have nothing to do with them being detectives.
