History

  • On the 15 June 1944, the Wehrmacht German troops which joined men of the French militia attack a hundred Maquis guerrillas holed up in a place called The Cave. Fights result in thirty-nine dead on the side of the attackers, and six on the side of the guerrillas, four more wounded. The six dead were names for Serge Boillereau, Ferruccio Borillo Louis Evrard, Jean Fiorese, Jean and Andre Rebill Chicken. This feat of arms continues to be celebrated each year on the premises themselves fighting
