They released their third album, Hollow Crown, on 26 January 2009 in UK and Australia. It was released in the USA and Canada on 10 February, Mainland Europe on the 20th, and Japan on the 21st.

The band's success has been gradual. They said in an interview that they were happy when they got signed to Century Media: "We’re really excited to have finally got the deal finished and signed, so much so that we all went out for a pizza the day that everything was finally made 100% official."

 and Dead Man In Reno, vocalist Matt Johnson decided he no longer wished to be a part of the band, so during their first headline UK tour in January 2007 it was announced that the show at Oxford was to be his last. In 2004 the band's original bassist, Tim Lucas, decided to leave the band to pursue his academic career. He was replaced by Alex "Ali Dino" Dean.

In February 2011, Architects announced the departure of bassist Alex "Ali Dino" Dean, due to family commitments. On 3 July 2011 it was announced that Dean had rejoined the band.

Members other projects and guest appearances

Before Architects, all members of the band had their own musical projects. Sam Carter and Alex Dean used to play together in a band called Fractures. Sam used to play drums before becoming a vocalist, and played drums in a UK hardcore band named Nervous Wreck. He also played drums for This City and did a video with the band prior to joining Architects. This City are still going to this day, and even played the 2009 Download Festival
