Hiskins was a versatile player who was usually used in defence but sometimes pushed up forward. He played on the half back flank in South Melbourne's two point grand final win over Carlton in 1909, his only premiership with the club. One of four brothers to play in the VFL, Hiskins could kick the ball long distances and was also one of the faster players in the side.
