On 4 April 1872 he married Lady Maria Georgiana Julia Fox-Strangways, daughter of Hon. John George Charles Fox-Strangways and Amelia Marjoribanks. Their daughter Mary married Sir Herbert Cook
. He is buried at Vale Cemetery, Lancrosse Vale, Guernsey.
